Glass wool is classified as "non-cancerous material" pursuant Ministerial Decree n. 01.09.1998 that accepts European Directive 97/69/EC (Certificate RCC 696453/a dated 12.05.1999) and pursuant German Decree n. TRGS 905 and law n. 01.07.1998 (the Federal Republic of Germany hasn't accepted the European regulation (certificate RCC 752196 dated 20.08.2000).
Glass fibre is also registered as "substance" for the purpose of REACH directive.
On October 25th, 2001 the Agency for Research on Cancer in Lione (IARC) - a body of the World Health Organization (WHO) — ruled that glass wool "is not to be classified as cancerous for humans".
The European Chemical Regulation (CE) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) in force since June 1, 2007 requires that Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) have to been prepared only for hazardous substances and mixtures/preparations.
Glass wool products are items according to REACH and do not contain hazardous substances. Therefore, the Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are not legally required.
EUROFIBRE S.p.A., however, prefers to provide customers with adequate information to ensure safe manipulation and safe use of their products through the SUIS (Safe Use Instruction Sheet).
